How to Take An Effective Mental Health Day

Self care, self love. What???

I have found that the most challenging aspect of understanding the how to of taking a mental health day is a homeostatic mindset of self neglect. Start by taking a look in the mirror, what do you see? Notice the voices of disgust in your mind: “ugh I am…” This voices are the starting point. You know the kind of person you want to be, you know the look that your best self requires, you know what needs to happen to self approve AND you also know which of those disproving inner voice need to go away forever.

Now, plan your day. What do you need? Rest but you can’t rest because you feel guilty? Then rest and allow yourself to do so guilt free. Let the world go to … where it needs to go without you because today you are a queen and your rest is the only priority. Or do you need to schedule and appointment with your spa, nail saloon, or barber? Go ahead, do it! DON’T fall into self hate, DON’T go into extreme diets or unrealistic new routines and agendas, these changes take time and they are usually self hate moves. Yes, a healthy lifestyle is important but you will do better by gradually chaging your habits. Watch for self hate. Self compassion, love and kindness will bring lasting and healthier changes as they create the synergy for a mentally healthier life. Meditate, do yoga, calm your mind, go hiking, talk to a loving supportive person in your live, lower your stress, take a break, a real break from everything. Now THAT is healthy
